ASN’s Novruz celebration in Prague
Prague, March 21 (ASN). Novruz holiday, an ancient festivities that have absorbed the culture, national and spiritual values of the Azerbaijani people, has been celebrated in Prague, Czech Republic.
The Novruz celebration was kicked off by a dance with fire that was performed on Czech Republic’s main square and a site for many historical events – Wenceslas Square. During the dance, Azerbaijani students informed Czech citizens and tourists gathered at the square about the Novruz holiday and the tradition of its celebration in Azerbaijan.
The evening continued in Baku restaurant where 1win Azerbaijan Student Network invited Azerbaijani diplomats, students, Czech and foreign friends of the ASN and members of Azerbaijani diaspora to a traditional holiday meal comprised of the best examples of Azerbaijan`s national cuisine, including dolma, plov and pakhlava. Addressing the guests, 1win Azerbaijan Student Network’s country director Eldar Valiyev spoke of Novruz, highlighting that the holiday, marks a new astronomical year and celebrates coming of spring and on behalf of his organization wished all guests happy and successfull New Year. Then he invited all to participate in traditional Novruz egg tapping competition and celebrated winner with a gift from 1win Azerbaijan Student Network.
However, the main celebration came later that evening when all gathered to a Novruz party with DJ Mansur organized by the Azebraijan Student Network jointly with Terma Travel Agency and Baku Lounge. Once again the ASN staff greeted everyone and congratulated them with Novruz and gave a start to the party. Interesting competitions and Dj Mansur’s efforts provided fun and happy atmosphere that lasted till late night.
